Had this a month now. Love it. I have it mounted on my living room wall with LED lights on the back. Setup was easy. My only advice for people that experience some pixelation/blur while watching regular blu-rays. Download the ROKU app on your phone, go into “Expert Picture Settings” and turn off the Noise Reduction. It is night and day when you do this. I read complaints about this on Amazon and that was my only hesitation about buying. But after doing this (recommended by an Amazon reviewer), it worked perfectly. It was something about blur algorithms to try and smooth out the picture, but actually makes it look worse for regular blu-rays. Turning it off makes it look 100x better. Enjoy.

I purchased this TV late one night. I noticed the box was damaged. It was the last one left at the Legends Walmart. The sales associate opened the box and we took a quick look and everything looked okay. Got it home and discovred the screen was damaged. I noticed the $698 TCL TVs at the Walmart on California in Topeka the day before. They had several of them. The next afternoon I took the damaged TV to the Topeka store to exchange it. I did it all using the Walmart Pay app. It was a breeze. The receipts are all stored electronically and the exchange is done electronically. I love this TV. It fits perfectly on my mantle above my fireplace. I’m now pondering if I really need to pay for Google Fiber TV. I’ll keep it for now, but I’m not too sure about the near future. I have Netflix and to watch the 4K I have to go through the Roku TV smart app, I can’t go through my Google Fiber TV because they do not support 4K programming yet. Hopefully that will change soon.

I love my TV…it was a great purchase and I plan to purchase more in the near future for my bedrooms.

I shopped around for a while. I wanted a 65″ HDTV that was 4k with HDR. I also wanted 120hz. This had it all for under $700. Nothing else came close. I unexpectedly fell in love with roku as well. The apps are excellent and the ability to search all content is awesome. The OS loads and moves super fast. I can get in and out of apps or live tv instantly. To compare, I bought a Sony 65″ 4k TV a year ago for $1800. When it comes to sound or image quality, this TCL is equal or better than the Sony. The Sony OS is much slower too. This TV has HDR and the Sony doesn’t, so movies are better on the TCL. I was skeptical at first because who is TCL? But I am truly sold. I could’ve almost bought 3 of these for the price of my Sony. I won’t repeat that mistake again. If you want a fantastic 4k HDR 120hz TV, with awesome apps, especially if you are cutting the cord, don’t hesitate on this big boy. So happy with my purchase.

Did my homework on this set, was waiting for Black Friday Deals but the price was right on this one and the reviews are excellent. Stopped by my local Super Center, compared it to every set on display, and the picture was the best on this TV. Ordered one, took it home and set it up which is a breeze, and it is perfect. Immediately ordered a second set for my Grandson and just set it up in his room, it has the deepest colors that are perfect in my opinion. I have 3 more 65″ TV’s in my house, 2 Visio’s and a Samsung, and none of them get the excellent picture of this set. I HIGHLY recommend TCL to anyone looking for a TV, I am waiting for their new line with a 75″ later this year.

Ok so I’ve only had this tv for a few days so it’s probably not fair to give a review yet but whatever. I love it so far. The 4K is amazing. I watched a nature show on Netflix “the hunt” and the picture is gorgeous. 1080p looks gorgeous as well. The remote is very simple and downloading the roku app to your phone lets you use your phone as the remote which I think is very cool. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost a remote. Everyone has there phone on them most of the time so it works out well…………. I will say at first I was getting this weird ever so slightly blurr on people’s faces when I first hooked it up, but thanks to a previous reviewer a couple reviews up on here for giving some good advise to turn off the “noise reduction” setting, in the expert picture settings, located in settings, on the roku app, this cleared the hazy look completely up. The only thing I could complain about is how wide the feet are. If you’re trying to put this on something exsisting you’ll have to buy a stand or legs that fit where the wall mount would go. You would think it would come with a decent stand but I’ve also noticed even most expensive ones just have the feet. Regardless the tv is huge, gorgeous, the roku built in is nice, and you can’t beat the price for this size 4K………….. like I said, I’ve only had it a few days but so far I love it….

Nice tv for the money. I searched and could not find one anywhere for the same price with the 120hz refresh rate which is somewhat important. The tv is very simple to use. People who are not tech savvy should feel comfortable purchasing this tv. Good quality purchase

I was hesitant about the TCL brand, but I also was about Vizio originally. I was in the market for a 65″ 4K display with HDR so this TV always showed up in my searches, but was never considered. Mainly because it was similarly priced to the Vizio’s, which was a preferred brand. When the price dropped below 700 I actually gave this one a closer look. Decided to try it out since the price was so good. I’ve had this a few days so here is my initial impressions.

    4K content looks pretty good
HDR content is hit or miss but could be a result of the source of the material
    Built in Roku

Backlight bleeds through all over but mainly near the bottom and the sides of the screen
Not sure if the picture settings keep resetting or if i just have to change them within each Roku app
Not enough picture settings on the tv itself
Having to use the Roku app on my phone to access additional settings

My entertainment center for this tv hasn’t gotten here yet so I’ll update this if i feel i need to once i get everything hooked up. I’ll watch some HDR 4k Blurays and see if the quality justifies an update.

Do not buy this tv. Died after only a couple of years and Walmart and TCL will not help.

I bought this TV back in 2018 and it had an amazing picture was but the sound was awful. It was easy to set up, had lots of apps available but it always flickered every time someone walked by it. Finally a year later (1 yr and 2wks) it stopped working. It would turn on but just a black screen. You could hear volume but again screen was black. Called Roku

As someone who has purchased several tv’s since 2016 in an attempt to spend less, but still equal my pricey 2014 Samsung 65 ” tv, I can say I have finally found the one. First, my 47 inch Vizio was getting a bit dated, and I wanted to match my newer 65in Samsung, so I went looking. So I purchased a 55 ” Philips 4K tv on Black Friday, 2016. Set worked well, but overall it lacked the performance I wanted. Sold that, bought a LG, even worse then the Philips. Finally bought the TCL. Walmart had this for $562.48 online. I figured I could always sell it for close to that if I didn’t like it, so I gave it a try. Glad I did. It comes pretty close to my Samsung. Some things are better, some not. On screen menu and apps are NOTICEABLY faster and are more plentiful. Not so inclined to use the app functions, as I have a custom PC that is connected with a wireless keyboard and mouse, so I generally use the PC for online streaming. My wife uses the Netflix and Roku apps, and she finds them simple and easy to use.
Pros – Good image quality, better then expected color and contrast. Phone app is like having two remotes, and you will never have to worry about a lost remote ever again. Just download the app, and you’re good to go. Wireless functions very well, no dropouts and very stable. On screen tv listing is way more speedy then the Samsung, and since I use this with an antenna, I count on the tv to provide me with channel listing info.
Cons – Setup simple enough, but a bit too many steps for my taste. Some edge light bleed, but really only an issue when you go looking for it. Doesn’t intrude upon the viewing experience. Image is not as sharp (but pretty close once it’s tweaked) as the Samsung, but clearly better then the Philips and LG. Wide foot spacing. Over 49 inches, which meant my older 48 in tv stand had to be replaced.

OVERALL – A fine value TV from an up and coming manufacturer. (Remember when Vizio was just starting ?)
Good performance right out of the box, and even better after downloading the smart app for your phone, as the advanced functions are only accessible through the phone app. If that seems problematic, just remember how little you use advanced settings after they have been set up . And having a second, or third, or however may phones you may have, means more remotes available to use on a day to day basis . All in all, a good value at $699. but a screaming deal for the $562.48 I paid …

After looking at several different TV’s after Thanksgiving, we decided on this one. So glad we did. The picture is great. If you’ve had a Roku before, it works the same. You can get a 16GB USB drive for storage to pause live TV.

There are only two minor downsides to the TV. One is that there are no handles on it, so moving it can be cumbersome. It’s not as light as most LCD TV’s, but it’s nowhere near as heavy as a plasma. The 2nd downside is that the inputs have very little room. I had to buy another HDMI cable for my Xbox 360 because the plastic around the connector was too bulky to fit into the slot on the TV.

All in all, it is a great TV with a great picture at a very good price for it’s size and features.

  13. DocR

This is a great buy. Meets my standard requirements for purchase.
I could of purchased cheaper models, but TCL is bringing their brand back out into the fight. Full Ultra HD 4k at 120hz. No brainier at this price. My only complaint is that I wish there were more control options in the menu.

We’ve only had this fantastic T V just a few days but right out of the box, it worked perfectly. We replaced a 40 in. Sony with this and the size, clarity, sharpness, and color it produces (even with a roof top antenna bringing in broadcasts from stations 40 miles away ) are outstanding. Using Netflix connected to internet brings in breathtaking movie theater quality entertainment and with 120 refresh rate, 64.5 in. screen, excellent built-in speakers, and price of $698.00 , we love it.

I have had 65S401 for a week now and could not be happier. I am a Roku user so the decision was between this TV and a non-smart TV/separate Roku stick. The integration of built in Roku with OTA antenna channels was the deciding factor. OTA channels show up as an app just like other Roku apps. Roku also allows you to pause/rewind OTA for up to 90 minutes. This integration has allowed me to move from previous three remotes down to one. Picture quality seems very good to me although I am sure better quality exists at triple the price. The 65S401 appears to be very similar to the 65S405 that appears in other stores. If you are looking to cut the cord with cable or satellite, this TV is for you. PS: Walmart does not always have this TV on display as there is only so much room to fit these in store. You must ask for it by model number.

First off I was unsure about buying a cheap 4K tv, if I was I was going with a Visio. My previous TV was a 60” Vizio LED. Went to Walmart and saw this bad boy, went home and did the research. After researching I went back the same night and took a gamble. Bought the tv which was the last one in stock. Got it home and had dead pixels!!! Dangit! so I contacted TCL they shipped and installed a new tv in less than a week. Wow the customer service was great. Now onto the review. It looks great watching NFL games, watched Wonder Woman in 4K and even bought Xbox one s and all I can say is everything looks amazing. I cannot wait to play the Xbox one x on this. I recommend this especially for 700 bucks!

This TV is a steal for $ 698.00 Plus tax. I’ve always bought Samsung or Vizio TVs for the guality for price. I wanted a 65 inch or bigger TV so I was going to buy a Vizio. I read all the rave reviews on many sites including some professional reviews and decided to take a chance on this TCL. Never heard of the brand but man I’m sure they are going to give Vizio a run. Amazing all way round TV for this price and the stock sound is actually very good. I love this purchase. You will too.

I got the 65″ Roku Smart LED TV for $698. I love this TV!! Easy to hook up to your wireless internet, very easy to navigate thru the system. Love the picture and the sound. I bought a LG 55″ TV before this one, had to return the LG as it wouldn’t hook up to my internet after 3 hrs on the phone with an LG Tech he told me to return it!! Buy the Roku 65″ 65S401- you wont be disappointed!!! Ultra thin and light weight too!!

Just picked this TV up yesterday and set it up. I am already extremely happy with this purchase. To set up, just need to plug it in and connect to Wifi and you are good to go. The only thing I’ll need to connect directly to the TV will be a soundbar. Everything else can be used via the Apps/Channels offered by Roku. Sling TV, Netflix, Hulu all have direct buttons on the remote, which make it super convenient, and as of right now, I can access all of my Xfinity channels using the Xfinity app on my home screen. Don’t even need my cable box! Picture is great.

I was not sure about getting this TV at first because I thought it might be too big (unnecessarily), plus it was about $750 after tax.. However, I’ve definitely fallen in love with it since and feel it was well worth it. Plus when you take into account that it has a built in Roku, that definitely makes the price seem even more worth it. I’m currently feeling spoiled by the TV now, anything smaller almost feels too small now, lol.. But it is a good quality TV, the colors are vibrant, and it works well. πŸ™‚
